Write these events under assignment #4, highlighting the chapters and adding bullets for the events.
NEW ASSIGNMENT!!!
Look for pictures that reflect how you think each character looks. These can be current or past movie stars, current or past actors and/or actresses, or pictures you draw that reflect the images of the characters.
Create a collage with these pictures, putting the character's name under each picture. You can decide what materials to use for your collage. These will NOT be posted on the WIKI.
Be creative! Have fun with this assignment. It will be interesting to see how everyone pictures each character.

Vera Claythorn- Vera Claythorn is not a very wealthy person. She is a games mistress at not a very good school. She was sent to Indian Island for work. Right now, we know that she has had a past relationship with a man named Hugo, whom she seems to still have feelings for today.
Mr. Blore- Mr. Blore is a pretty wealthy man. We know that his occupation was once to be a detective. Now, he runs a detective agency in Plymouth. In this chapter we actually find out that Mr. Owen invited Mr. Blore to the Island to keep a watch on all of the other guests at the Island. Dr. Armstrong- Dr. Armstrong is a very successful doctor whom actually, in this chapter, was being accused of being responsible for the death of Louisa Mary Clees. Louisa was Armstrong's patient the night that he was drunk. so, Dr. Armstrong opperated on her, but he didn't really know what he was doing because he was drunk. Miss Emily Brent- Miss Emily Brent is a 65 year old women who is very proper. She is not very wealthy, and she was invited to go to the Island by a "Mrs. Oliver" she claims. But we know that she could very well be mixing that up with Mrs. Owen. Mrs Emily Brent in this chapter was accused of killing Beatrice Taylor. But, later, she claims that it isn't true. Anthony Marston- Tony Marston is a very attractive ladies man visiting the Island. Tony is a very fun, lively man who was not very wealthy on his own. He was looking forward to going to the Island to have some drinks and meet some girls. In this chapter, we learn that Anthony Marston is apparently responsible for the murder of John and Lucy Combes. Assignment #2- Chapter 2
Find four examples of suspense OR foreshadowing in chapter two.
Write the exact wording from the book - that means type the sentences exactly as they are written.
In a well-written paragraph, explain why these sentences clearly show either suspense or foreshadowing.
In chapter two, there are several examples of foreshadowing. The first example that really stood out to me was when Vera Claythorn was reading the poem on the wall about the little Indian boys. I noticed that the last line of that poem was, "One little Indian boy left all alone; he went and hanged himself and then there were none." This stood out to me because the last couple words say, "and then there were none." Which is the title of the book. Also I feel like maybe what is happening in the poem may happen to them in real life. One by one, they may just slip away, just like the little Indian boys. And also, I feel like the author wouldn't have put that poem in the book just for you to read. I think there is a clue hidden in that poem. Another foreshadowing in Chapter two that I found was when Emily Brent was reading the bible verse. "The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made:the wicked in the net which they hid is their own foot taken. The Lord is known by the judgement which he executeth: the4 wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. The wicked shall be turned into hell." I feel like this excerpt was put in the book because it's trying to tell you that there is going to be some wicked coming soon, but they will also be puniched for what they did. Another event that could represent foreshadowing is when Phillip Lombard and Emily Brent started talking. They seemed to be getting along well, so maybe in the future they wil end up being very close firends or maybe even in a relationship.(If they don't get killed...) Another foreshadowing that is in chapter two would be on page 32. Here Vera was admiring the sea when she started to think about something. "The sea....so peaceful today--sometimes so cruel....The sea that dragged you down to its depths. Drowned....Found drowned....Drowned at sea....Drowned---drowned---drowned...No she wouldn't remember...she would not think of it! All that was over..." I feel like the author added this part in the book because maybe later in the book, that is how she will die. Or maybe her nerves get to her and she sarts to break down because she can't handle being on an island. Your observations show some critical thinking - and logic. Way to go! Some errors in spelling, grammar, etc. Mrs. M
Before Reading Questions----
How does a mystery novel differ from a narrative?- A mystery novel is different from a narrative because in a mystery novel, you don't exactly know what the story is really going to lead up to. A mystery novel leaves the reader guessing almost the entire book. Where as, in a narrative, the reader kind of knows what the ending is going to be about. In a mystery novel, there are little clues scattered in the book as to what the ending will be, but mystery books never actually tell you what the catch really is. In a narrative, there are mainly little things like detail and discription that tell you what the story is really about.
How might the title be a clue to the Story?- To me, the title "And Then There Were None" is kind of telling us that one or more people are going to be killed, so that eventually there is no one left.
Prediction- I predict that in this book someone will be killed out of the blew, and everyone will be searching to find out who the killer was. I think there will be a prize for whoever find out who the killer was. So, the hunt to find a killer will become sort of like a competition between the characters. And in the end, the killer kills all of them. So, its not going to be a very happy ending.
Hi Becky-
Some good insights into novels vs. mysteries. Check for spelling errors, add the date, put titles in italics and capitalize all the important words in the title. By rereading your post, you may find several other errors that need to be corrected.
